As part of Hulamin's donation programme and corporate social investment to uplift the Pietermaritzburg community, the company donated R75 000 to the local Community.
"Through this assistance we were able to improve the lives of many underprivileged, disadvantaged and needy persons in our communities" said Mr Naidoo, the Community Chest's Executive Director. "The assistance we give our welfare organisations is only possible through the generous ongoing support of corporate entities like yours who believe in the upliftment of the community. We know we can always depend on Hulamin's financial support."
In 2006/2007 the Pietermaritzburg and District Community Chest assisted 39 local registered welfare organisations with a collective amount of R1 792 million received from donors. "In the 2007/2008 year we are committed to assisting 50 welfare organizations with an amount of R2 million", added Mr Naidoo.

The Pietermaritzburg and District Community Chest handed out awards to local businesses at the 48th annual general meeting held recently. Corporate donors were presented with Certificates of appreciation. Hulamin received highest honor with the Gold Award.

In the financial year 2008/2009, the Community Chest will distribute over R2 million to 52 welfare organisations working in a variety of welfare sectors in and around Pietermaritzburg.
